In a year of many curves and ups and downs, just a few hours spent outdoors can be transformational. That’s why Hydro Flask is proud to support the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) in their efforts to build more trails and provide equitable access to cyclists all over the world.

Recently, we followed a group of intrepid mountain bikers along an IMBA-built trail as they escaped their everyday routines for the freedom of the mountain air. Over jumps, down drops and around sharp curves, our cameras caught both the adrenaline jolt of the ride, and the immense wonder of the natural world.

“Every chance that you get to go out and see nature and enjoy trails is just critical,” says IMBA project manager, Shane Wilson. We couldn’t agree more. We awarded IMBA with a grant through our Parks For All program. Just part of the $1.9 million we’ve awarded so far.

“Teaching in an urban setting, it’s difficult for my students to have opportunities to go outdoors,” says Ida B. Wells Middle School teacher Heimy Salgado, “We need to ensure our students go out to National Parks, we tell them all the time, ‘You own them, they are yours to go to, so Let’s Go!”

Working with National Park Trust’s Buddy Bison Program, we took Heimy’s entire class to Carderock Recreation Area on the outskirts of Washington D.C. for an adventure they won’t soon forget. Not only was it the first time many of them were able to venture out of the city, it was their first opportunity to experience the exhilaration of rock climbing. Our cameras captured the anxiety, the excitement, and ultimately, the gratefulness the students radiated, documenting—in real time—the genesis of a new generation of outdoor advocates.

Inspiring? We think so. We awarded National Park Trust for their ongoing stewardship efforts with a $25,000 grant through our Parks For All program. We love giving back to groups that celebrate and protect the outdoor spaces we all love.
